English version

Coen always had big plans. One of his latest plans was to help the 'Stomach and Esophageal Cancer Fund' (SLMK) which is a part of the AMC Foundation.

Coen was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in January 2019. His cancer was very rare. He was treated in Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, where he developed a huge respect for his surgeons Prof. Dr. Mark van Berge Henegouwen, Dr. Suzanne Gisbertz, and their team. Due to the rarity of esophageal cancer, research and funding that goes into esophageal cancer is much less than other types of cancers. That's why the 'Stomach and Esophageal Cancer Fund' was founded at the AMC Foundation.

After the 6-week hospital stay in late Summer 2019, Coen immediately knew his next challenge: Help his surgeons's fund as soon as he recovered.

Unfortunately, Coen's life was not long enough to realize his promise. Coen passed away on May 3, 2020. We, as his family, appreciate your support to 'Stomach and Esophageal Cancer Fund' in his name, so that Coen can once again fill his role as the master fixer, and as his business title read - the 'possible-maker' (mogelijkmaker)!
